It doesn’t do a step by step which is what most folks who visit are looking for, or maybe not ….anyone want to chime in? Problem is that the Nextcloud guide, as with most “guides” is not designed for the noobie. If you had looked at my previous post I quote the same guide. You say it can be found in the quoted Nextcloud Guide. Is it stupid because: A) You didn’t think of it B) because it was solved without the divine wisdom of an omnipotent Nextcloud god? Let’s talk about why this is “stupid” – your words not mine – It is not a personal forum for the Nextcloud gods to look down upon the great unwashed. I do have to agree that some users may use it just to get an answer because they are too lazy to search. You are such a Paradox….Ī help forum is to help those who are either too new to the game or have a particular problem that they can’t solve. You don’t really understand the purpose of a help forum do you. Oh by the way I got this message when I logged in ((post withdrawn by author, will be automatically deleted in 48 hours unless flagged) I have included the original post just so we don’t forget about it. Well I don’t do that - I prefer to educate. There is a reason nextcloud developers don’t have an OCC terminal in nextcloud and it has nothing to do with possible security vulnerabilities As a system administrator that is your responsibility as is security.Īnd that app? I wonder if you noticed it’s a third party app. #Unraid nzbget how to#If you are using docker or LXC you have to figure out how to send the commands through those applications. OCC can be invoked as described in the official nextcloud guide here. #Unraid nzbget install#I just got on the forum and saw this thread but your solution is stupid and it’s understandable that people wouldn’t reply as it’s in the official nextcloud install guide. Never seen that before…seems a little Orwellian.Īnd I just got word that somebody has finally responded- Kudos PS: I did the documentation and when I went to post it - it says new users can only post 2 images. If this helps just one person - then it was worth it. All of the commands are laid out in this documentation:.I ran: files:scan -all and took about 5 minutes for 36Gb.Click this icon and it brings you to the OCC web prompt from there you can run all of those.Install this app and then return to your default screen (files).Click on apps which takes you to where you can add apps to Nextcloud (take a look there are lots.Click on it and a drop down menu is shown.Top right corner you see an icon usually having a colored circle with a letter (could be something.Go into your Nextcloud screen listing your files.Either the question was so dumb it didn’t rate a response or …Īnyway the solution was easy once you know: Just as a side note my post was viewed 11 times in 5 hours - not one response. Now for those of you that have brain cramps like I did I will detail the solution - because I believe in helping users out when I can. Is OCC included under Nextcloud 18? Do I have to install it?ĭon’t know where else to look? If you need more info let me know. Is that under Unraid terminal or Nextcloud console? Is it my Unraid user or Nextcloud user.īut, none of them show you how to invoke and/or install OCC – I must be stupid or something but I just don’t see this discussed anywhere. It also says you have to login as http user in order to use it. Īll of the posts show there are a lot of “useful” commands in OCC. Occ is in the nextcloud/ directory for example /var/You must run it as your HTTP user to ensure that the correct permissions are maintained on your Nextcloud files and directories. You can perform many common server operations with occ, such as installing and upgrading Nextcloud, manage users, encryption, passwords, LDAP setting, and more. Nextcloud’s occ command (origins from “ownCloud Console”) is Nextcloud’s command-line interface. How do you invoke/install OCC on the server? This is the most direct reference I have found: I have 1 simple question, after searching all of the posts: I have all of the syntax and commands information. I have searched and it appears that OCC is the solution using filescan. There are no other users besides my admin user in Nextcloud. I have moved some files from another source to my admin user directory in Nextcloud. Unraid dockers: radar, sonar, nzbget, plex, mariadb, netdate (all latest versions) This is a general description of my server etc.
The storyline starts out as just romance between Talon and Sunshine, but about the middle of the book, it turns from just a simple love story to an out and out adventure and a save-the-world climax, something the Dark-Hunters are always having to do. But that's okay, because Talon is so wonderfully complex and fun to read about that you won't be able to put the book down. She's weak, fruity, and somewhat silly and I found her hard to like in the beginning. I should say that it's the story of both Talon AND his ladylove Sunshine, but honestly Sunshine is more of a supporting role in this book rather than a main character. 'Night Embrace' is all about Talon of the Morrigantes, a doomed Celt and familiar to those that read 'Night Pleasures'. I'm looking forward to the next novel in the series, now. This is also impressive, because I had almost decided to give up on Kenyon as an author since her first two novels seemed WAY too dopey and silly to me. Reading about these guys made me want to go out and buy the rest of the Dark-Hunter series, just to see what happens to them. The best part of NIGHT EMBRACE, however, isn't the romance so much as it is the adventure that revolves around the secondary characters, which include the always fascinating Acheron, a psycho good guy named Zarek, and some were-creatures (not to mention the various Greek and Celtic gods). Talon is also an interesting hero with an interesting back story, and you can really see him fall in love with Sunshine. Her responses to Talon, a hunky vampire hunter, are genuine (I could imagine myself thinking those same thoughts if I met a guy like him). Sunshine is the kind of heroine who is easy to relate to: she's made a few mistakes in life, yet she is also independent, realistic, and easy to get along with. Nynia has been reborn as Sunshine Runningwolf, a modern-day starving artist. NIGHT EMBRACE is the story of Talon, an immortal Celt, who (for nefarious reasons unknown to him) is reunited with the reincarnated soul of his dead wife, Nynia. I am cursed never to know peace or happiness-not so long as my enemy waits in the night to destroy us both. But for me to love her would mean her death. With her unconventional ways and ability to baffle me, Sunshine is the one person I find myself needing. She wants nothing past tonight, no ties, no long-term commitments.īut every time I look at her, I start yearning for dreams that I buried centuries ago. Flamboyant and extravagant, Sunshine Runningwolf should be the perfect woman for me. Instead, I get a runaway Mardi Gras float that tries to turn me into roadkill and a beautiful woman who saves my life but can't remember where she put my pants. All I want in return is a hot babe in a red dress, who wants nothing more from me then one night. For centuries, I've protected the innocent and watched over the mankind, making sure they are safe in a world where. Once the sun goes down, I am the baddest thing prowling the night: I command the elements, and I know no fear. I have my chicory coffee, my warm beignets, and my best friend on the cell phone. Taking the time to assess your own strengths and weaknesses sets a strong example for your team and ultimately leads to a better work environment.Īs an employee, consider how amazing it would be to be able to tell a manager where they excel and where you think improvements could be made. It can be difficult at first to ask for and receive feedback as a new manager, but in the long run it will improve your leadership skills. However, on the flip side of that, receiving feedback as a manager is equally important. The Importance of FeedbackĪs a first-time manager, you’ll find yourself providing regular, valuable feedback to your team. You also have to establish your role as a leader in order to have a team that respects you and works hard to be productive. In fact, sometimes having a conversation with a team member is necessary in order to establish boundaries. You will quickly learn that some information is confidential, and decisions cannot be clouded by personal judgment. Establishing new boundaries and learning to communicate in a new way is so important.įinding a balance between friend and manager is hard, but absolutely essential to success. When you’re promoted to a first-time manager from within, you might now be managing someone you previously gossiped with. Equally, employees often struggle to follow managerial advice from someone who was previously their equal. First-time managers often struggle to transition from equal to senior of their employees. It’s difficult for both parties to adapt to these changes. When you become a manager, your relationships with your colleagues change. Specifically for first-time managers, learning to communicate in a new role is essential. Communication & RelationshipsĪs we all know, communication is key for any workplace. Let’s break down some of the most important advice that any manager should adhere to. No first-time manager will be successful from day one. If you work for a company that fails to provide this, be sure to fight to complete an external course covered by your company. Leadership training should be provided to all first-time managers prior to them assuming their new responsibilities. This leads to a period of time filled with failure, which creates a negative path for themselves and their teams. However, on average, people become managers or leaders at 36. According to Development Dimensions International, people are 40 years old by the time they go through leadership training. While this “mistake” is not always the fault of the first-time manager, it’s very common across organizations. They like to maintain control over everything which ultimately leads to poor performance from the rest of the team. First-time managers are sometimes hesitant to delegate to their team or empower their teammates. Emotions are ignored, other opinions are overshadowed and any team comradery vanishes. Of course, this can lead to a tough environment for team members. Essentially, they end up thinking “I” instead of “we”. Often, feeling the pressure to perform and impress in their new role leads to managers take on all of the responsibility for the team and fall into micromanagement. It’s pretty common for first-time managers to micromanage their team. Unfortunately, it’s easy for first-time managers to fail here, as they are generally promoted based on their stellar performance in their previous role. However, all first-time managers should focus on improving their listening skills, their people management and their project management skills. Of course, these skills will differ depending on the team you’re managing and the industry you operate in. Yes, your knowledge of the role and how your team should be performing is crucial, but there are new skills needed. As we mentioned above, being a manager requires a whole new skill set. Something that most first-time managers fail to realize, is that the skills they needed as an employee are not necessarily the skills they will use as a manager. However, knowing some of the common pitfalls to avoid can help speed up that learning process. No first-time manager gets it right the first time – there is always a learning curve. Common Mistakes that First-Time Managers Make After speaking to managers and team leaders here at Celayix, we’ve put together some tips and general advice. We hope to guide first-time managers through the transition from employee to manager with ease and confidence. There is often a knowledge gap that needs to be filled, as being a manager requires a completely different skill set. Not only do they have to ensure that their team is performing, but they also have to meet the expectations of their own manager. For most first-time managers, it’s their first time being responsible for other people and their work efforts and operations. Becoming a manager for the first time can seem daunting. |
